The Natural wonder Đavolja Varoš (eng. Devil’s Town) is a collection of two hundred and two earth pyramids, each between 2-15 metres tall. Many legends had been told to explain the creation of these, locally called, “towers”. However, the scientific explanation is that they probably occurred several million years ago, as a result of water erosion, while the area was submerged by the ancient Pannonian Sea. Later, they were shaped by wind and rain erosion. Those chemical reactions over time were a natural way to cement the existing shapes.
